21 Day Devotional – 2022

And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

—Genesis 3:8

God has always desired to have close fellowship and intimacy with humanity.  It wasn’t until the truly devastating “virus” of sin and its effects separated Adam and Eve from God that they ran and hid from Him in shame.  Today, too many people are hiding from God when they should be running to Him.  The Good News is that God came to bridge all gaps of separation from Him through Jesus Christ.  In other words, nothing can separate us from His love- not shame, guilt, fear, or anything else.

As we begin 2022, it is our desire as a Life Church family to pursue God together by making a conscious decision to get closer to Him and experience His presence.  As His word declares, “Draw close to me and I will draw close to you…” (James 4:8). We can do this by fasting and praying. It is our way of removing the things of life we have concealed ourselves behind, like food, social media, tv, and refocusing our attention and devotion on God.  Speaking with Him in prayer gives time for Him to speak to us afresh.

Heavenly Father, as I devote myself to these 21 days of fasting and praying, I ask that you give me a fresh desire towards you.  Let me have an intimate encounter with you and may I experience your presence in a real and personal way.  In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen
