Join us January 9–30 for 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting as a church family. This is a time where we intentionally seek God every day in prayer and fasting collectively as a church. Together, we believe for God to move in powerful ways and create a lasting impact on our lives.

2 Chronicles 7:14–15
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.
What is fasting?
The goal of fasting is to draw closer to God. Biblical fasting involves eliminating distractions for a spiritual purpose. When we fast, we abstain from something—typically food—in order to gain a greater awareness of our need for God.
Types of Fasts
Your personal fast should present a level of challenge, but it is very important to know your body, your options, and most importantly, to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do.
In this type of fast, you drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option.
This type of fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. One example of a selective fast is the Daniel Fast, during which you remove meat, sweets, and bread from your diet and consume water and juice for fluids and fruits and vegetables for food.
This fast is sometimes called the “Jewish Fast” and involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, or from sunup to sundown.
This fast is a great option if you do not have much experience fasting food, have health issues that prevent you from fasting food, or if you wish to refocus certain areas of your life that are out of balance. For example, you might choose to stop using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast and then carefully bring that element back into your life in healthy doses at the conclusion of the fast.
Students & Families
As Jesus followers we are commanded to GO and make disciples. And that means we have to first start with the little disciples in our homes.
During the month of January, during our Sunday and mid-week experiences, our Kids Life and Youth ministry teams will be focusing on teaching the next generation about prayer and fasting.
We want to partner with you—our families—as you talk about fasting and prayer throughout the month. We have includes a great resource from Seacost church for you to use with your kids as a starting point.
