When Pastor Steve Penny joined us earlier this year, he shared a powerful prophesy over our House related to a God Shift. The words he spoke resonated with us and filled us with great expectation for the way God is going to move in and through Life Church. We are beyond excited to share that Life Church has signed an agreement of sale for a new room of our House!
After selling our main campus on the East Side of Allentown, Life Church City moved to downtown Allentown gathering on Sunday mornings at Miller Symphony Hall.
The ability to partner with the Allentown Symphony Association and host our services in this beautiful, iconic venue has been a tremendous experience. Beginning on Palm Sunday 2019, Life Church Allentown will make its home at St. Paul's.
God orchestrated this amazing move. St. Paul’s Church of Allentown is located at 8th and Walnut Streets just a few blocks from Miller Symphony Hall. St. Paul’s is one of the two original churches founded in Allentown. The church is not only a building with rich history, it’s a hub for numerous ministries that serve countless community members.
OF ST. PAUL'S
We will call our new campus Life Church Allentown at St. Paul’s to continue to recognize and honor its history. St. Paul’s history goes back to the founding of Allentown in 1762. Shortly after William Allen's surveyors drew some lines on a map laying out the city, a Lutheran congregation was gathering at a log structure, located on Walnut Street between 7th and 8th street. The Lutherans gathered there until the early 1790s when, thanks to the generosity of members of the Allen family, that property was set aside at the corner of 8th and Walnut St. for St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
St. Paul's continued to have a role in the early history of Allentown and Lehigh County. According to a long-time tradition the clock in its tower became the semi-official timekeeper for the city of Allentown. In the early 20th century those wanting to have the correct time would set their pocket watches and mantel clocks by the hands of St. Paul's.
Life Church is excited to bring new life to the beautiful piece of history that is St. Paul’s and carry its legacy as a vibrant House of God into the future.
Life Church will make substantial investments in the preservation of this iconic site to make it the home for our Allentown Campus. Life Church at St. Paul’s will allow for:
Multiple services on Sunday mornings
An education wing offering fourteen classrooms
A chapel and a fellowship hall with a full kitchen
We can host all of our ministry activity throughout the week
Some onsite parking which will be reserved for our seniors or parents of nursery-age students.
A brand-new parking deck will be constructed directly across the street by the Allentown Parking Authority
All of this will be done at a substantial savings compared to the current mobile church operations. Additionally, part of our vision for this building is for more ministries to be grown and fostered at this space. Through partnership with other local non-profit partners the goal is for Life Church Allentown at St. Paul’s to become an outpost of hope and make a bigger impact.
